Kachin refugee NGO appeals for international help

Updated 20 September 2012, 22:18 AEST
An aid worker in Burma's Kachin state, on the country's northern border with China, says there are now around 100,000 people displaced by fighting in the area.
The conflict between the Burmese army and the Kachin Independence Army re-started in June last year, breaking a 17 year ceasefire.
Mary Tawm is manager of Wun Pawng Ninghtoi (WPN), an umbrella group of eight Kachin aid agencies that is working with displaced civilians on both sides of the border.
She talks about the IDP's, meaning Internally Displaced People, who have been left homeless because of the conflict, and also about INGOs, meaning International Non-Government Organisations.
